Joseph Scrimshaw and His Unstable Rodent

What happens when you give a squirrel a martini and a light saber? It's probably best not to think about the ramifications of such actions. However, if you are at all curious, I highly recommend checking out the comedic ramblings of Joseph Scrimshaw. I've also heard he is the primary expert in drunken weaponized squirrels. An unstable squirrel.

In related news, I did design that squirrel image, which, I have to admit, was pretty awesome.

In other related news, you should go check out all of Joseph's hilariously humorous things and go support his Patreon campaign while your at it. If you do happen to join the Patreon campaign, you can get all sorts of fun things including, but not limited to, a copy of his book Comedy of Doom, your very own LOLScrimshaw and short awkward poems about a random thing you think should be honored in short awkward poetic form.

ALSO! If you happen to be in Portland, Oregon tomorrow night (4/18/2014), Joseph is performing at the Secret Society for Nerd Night Out!

Thursday's Children

Back in November, I was approached by friend and author Curtis Chen to produce the art for his upcoming book, Thursday's Children. A couple weeks ago he announced the cover on his website, so... tada! 512-6x9_Front_Cover_blogHe also is going through the book building process on his 512 Words or Fewer blog including some of the steps involved in designing the cover. You really should go check it out. I'll wait.

Back? Cool.

I really loved working on this cover piece (and the interior spot illustrations, tease tease). Even the revisions were enjoyable because the resulting image turned out so much stronger.

Curtis is the master of setting a scene and this book is the culmination of his five year 512 Words or Fewer flash-fiction project. All the best of his snack-sized stories were put into this collection (mmm... snack-sized fiction). I highly recommend checking it out. The official release date is Friday, January 31st, so get those reminders set. Here's a handy link to the official book page.

Holiday Commissions

sharktopus_smHey everyone! Just a friendly reminder that now's the time to get those holiday commissions ordered. For delivery before Christmas, please order before Dec. 18th for U.S. orders and Dec. 10th for international orders.

ALSO! I have a few pieces of original art up in my Etsy shop. There will be more as the month progresses as I'm currently coloring all of this year's Month of Monsters art (5"x7" on 6"x8" paper - ink and watercolor). I'm open to special color requests if there is a piece you are interested in. The whole lot can be viewed over at Month of Monsters.

That's all for now. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving weekend!

Exclamation point!
