Indiana Thor

Here is a recent commission for the premise, if Indiana Jones had found Mjölnir and was found worthy of its power. Thus, Indiana Thor!

I started with a few rough concepts to work out the design based upon a bunch of Thor/Jones research.

Once a concept was decided upon, I moved onto a sketch that included changes from the feedback I received. A more Thor outfit was requested while keeping the iconic hat, shoulder bag, and whip of Jones.

Next came inks.

And then a bunch stuff ultimately resulting in the final painting. :)

Kitten Punches

The other day on the Twitters this brief, yet awesome, exchange went down:

At which point I thought, YES. THIS MUST BE A THING. And thus:

kittenpunch.jpg

Surprising no one, drawing kittens (or anything) punching Nazis is VERY therapeutic. I HIGHLY recommend.

Here's my design process for this piece. To start, I sketched out a few thumbnails to work out the optimal kitten punch.

Once I decided on a composition, I refined the image with a rough sketch. BAM! POW! Go kitten go!

I then applied digital ink via Manga Studio and made the hair extra floopy.

Finally, time for colors! At this point I moved over to Photoshop because it gives me a ton more options for coloring and the text capabilities are much more advanced. Also at this point I had to decide what type of cat to make the kitten. There was no question in my mind; the kitten was either tortoise shell or calico because the lady means business.

And there you have it. KA-POW! Just because she's a wee kitten doesn't mean she doesn't pack a mean punch.

IN ADDENDUM:

YES ALL THE YES. THIS is the story we need right now.  Thanks Gwenda!

The Ghastlytrump Tinies

Hi everyone! Are you registered to vote yet (for USA elections)? Don't know if your registration is valid and up to date?

You can check your status here.

You can register here. Registration deadlines are soon, as in today for some states, so please don't dawdle!

Recently, game designer extraordinaire, Mike Selinker, asked me to help out with this important project. It's now available for participation by you!

Here's the official description of this project:

The Ghastlytrump Tinies is a parody of Edward Gorey’s classic alphabet book The Gashlycrumb Tinies, but with the children representing what we’d lose in a hypothetical (we hope!) Trump administration. It is written by game designer Mike Selinker, illustrated by 26 of the best artists on the planet, and published by Basket of Adorables.
A mere 1,000 copies of this softcover book are available for $25 (plus $10 shipping) - but you can pay that $25 (or more!) as a donation to the Clinton campaign or the Southern Poverty Law Center and only send us ONE PENNY (plus the shipping). If you do that, just email us a copy of your receipt from Hillary Clinton’s donation page or the SPLC donation page. But act now. Once it’s gone, it’s gone like the things in this book will be if we elect Trump.

If this is something you are interested in, you can find all the details, including the contents of the book and an audio version read by the ever delightful The Doubleclicks, over at the official Ghastlytrump Tines website.

Less than a month to go. May the force be with us.
