Doodle Swap #17 Roundup

Another Doodle Swap has come and gone. For those that might not know about this, it’s a artist trading card swap. Once the signups are closed for the current session, addresses are sent out to the participants, you create something on a 3.5″x2.5″ cards (usually around ten or less) and send them out to folks. A few days later, you start receiving little pieces of art from everyone you sent a card to. It’s fun. You don’t need to have any artistic skills to participate, just the ability to fill a card with something interesting. Sometimes there’s a theme, sometimes not. And that’s about it. I highly recommend. So far this is the eleventh time I’ve participated.

This round, there was no theme. However, I like making up a theme anyway. I call this group Kitten Villains. I may have to revisit these cats at some point.

Weekend Art Cards

So, I have this thing when I go to conventions or concerts or really anywhere that involves me sitting in lines for an excessive amount of time; I draw little sketches. I then give those sketches away to folks who seem to like them (at least, that is my sincere hope).

Here are the few I did this weekend while visiting Emerald City Comicon. Thanks so much to anyone who was kind enough to take one home.

Month of Monsters

Lately, I’ve been in a dry spell inspiration-wise. A sort of artist’s block, so to speak. So instead of just waiting around for my muse to come back from whatever summer vacation she appears to be on, I decided it was time for a daily project to get the ink flowing again.

Therefore, each day for the month of October, I will be drawing a monster themed art card. The original art card will then be put up on my Etsy site (because, honestly, what am I going to do with 31 little monsters running around my desk).

Also, if anyone wants a specific monster, I’m happy to commission a custom monstrosity. Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ art card will be listed for $7 US (or $17 for three), $10 International (or $20 for three) (shipping included). Just contact me if you want something special.

The first two will go up sometime tonight (PDT).

RAWR! :)

Doodle Swap #12

These were done for the Doodle Swap project. There was no theme this time around, but I decided to explore the characters from Alice in Wonderland.

I love these small mediums. I feel like I can get a little more experimental with my work. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Doodle Swap #11 – Hybrid Animals

Doodle Swap, for those unfamilar is a fun little project in which a group of folks sign up and doodle a small set of art cards to trade amongst each other. You can find more information about this project at the Doodle Swap website.

Not all of the rounds have themes. This round, there was a theme and it was hybrid animals.

It’s always such an enjoyable little project. I highly recommend participating.

Manta Ray

Alas, this is the last sea critter in the batch of art cards I did for this round of the Doodle Swap project. I really enjoyed doing this particular set. So much in fact that I am entertaining the notion of taking art card commissions on a regular basis. Would this be something folks would have an interested in? Please leave your thoughts in the comments. If not or if you prefer a different size or format please let me know as well. Thanks!
