Not all of the rounds have themes. This round, there was a theme and it was hybrid animals.

It’s always such an enjoyable little project. I highly recommend participating.

The townsfolk celebrated the day the great worm bypass bridge was finally finished. Too long had they been forced to take the small line ferry ten miles down the road to reach the other side of their town. The great divide caused by the sudden deep chasm of writhing giant worms, which had plowed straight through the center of their town over a hundred years ago, was now being mended. They could be a whole community once more.

Mr. Flufflebear was a very good listener. She could spend hours discussing her deepest darkest fears and worries with Mr. Flufflebear. He never got upset or told her she was silly. And sometimes, on still quiet nights, he would whisper back to her; wrapping her in warm comforting words. Words that made her feel strong and powerful against the injustices of her existence. Words that crawled into her mind and puffed out like fruiting fungal spores. Glorious sweet words, full of triumph, hope, and decadent ideas.

She loved her Mr. Flufflebear.

Molly McGee was glad she was finally old enough to go to the old dock every day, exactly at noon, to feed the great old one that lived in the dark murky waters of the loch. No more giving the slop to the shoggoths. That job was now her younger brother’s. Yessiree, she was growing up. Maybe next year her parents would let her join the cult. She knew she would still be too young, but a girl could dream.

A delicacy in many parts of the world, rathes have been harvested since the end of the third dynasty. Despite advances in technology, the most efficient way to harvest rathes is still by hand by a professional rathe catcher. Only intuition and experience have been able to predict the correct air currents that entice the rathes out into the open for their biannual migration across the highest peaks of the Ubontuga Mountains. Special care must also be taken by the catchers to prevent bruising the valuable and succulent flesh of the rathes during their harvest. Only catchers with the softest of touch are rewarded with the greatest price for their bounty.
