It is gloomy with a dash of icky out today, so I was in the mood to post something sunny and bright. This was taken at the Crystal Springs Rhodie gardens in Portland last spring. This photo was taken last July. It’s amazing how many flowers are still blooming at the high elevations during the peak of summer. That’s Mount St. Helens in the background letting off a wee bitty poof. It has decided to poof every so often recently which you can usually see quite well from Portland/Vancouver if [...]

It’s finally done. Hooray! In actuality I think I just set a new speed record for finishing a detailed drawing.Anyway, here he is, [insert orc name here], in all his orcish glory (with shiny axe). As you may have noticed, he still needs a name. The only name I can come up with is Kronk the [...]

Friday night we went down to OMSI and took some photos of downtown Portland at night. This is taken from the east back of the Willamette river looking west along the Portland Esplanade. I think that is Venus in the upper left corner. Technical DetailsCamera: Nikon D50Aperture Value: f/8Exposure Program: Aperture PriorityFocal Length: 18 mmMetering [...]

Yesterday I decided to take advantage of a floater holiday at work since the weather was supposed to be excellent. :) So, Andy and I decided to go over to Henry Hagg Lake and see what the mountain bike trails were like there. Needless to say, we are both out of shape and I took [...]

This was taken at the Oregon Coast Aquarium during a random trip to the coast at the beginning of the year. We ended up getting there late in the day and pretty much had the run of the place. Apparently the aquarium doesn’t get many visitors on New Year’s day. Anyway, I should have brought [...]

Alright, so I am a little bit further with this drawing. I firmed up the axe, fixed the eyes, smudged everything, and started working on the body and helmet some more. Oh! and I also made a couple more teeth pointy. Also, this guy is still hunting for name!

I was playing around with selective saturation on this one. The original ground was like a green/brown color. I thought it would be fun to pull the snail out a bit with color.

It’s been a while since I’ve played DSII. The past year has pretty much been only Oblivion. Needless to say, after recent acquisition of the Broken Worlds expansion pack, I am rediscovering DSII all over again. So far I have only completed the first task. In “theory” you are supposed to be able to import [...]

I was searching through some older photos of mine and stumbled across this one. I thought it was humorous, so here ya go. This was from last September when I was on vacation in Alsace, France. This was at L’Orangerie (zoo and park) in Strasbourg. Apparently their chickens are dangerous.
